Home minister: Strict measures will be taken against anyone trying to create unrest

Meeting held over inaugurating Mujib Borsho

On the occasion of the upcoming Mujib Borsho celebration, the home minister on Wednesday said anyone trying to create unrest would face severe action.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said: "Bangabandhu is the Father of the Nation. On the occasion of his birth centenary, we are keeping an eye out for miscreants as well as those who spread rumours."

He made the statements at a home ministry office on Wednesday in a meeting regarding rules and regulations for the celebration of Mujib Borsho.

The Chief Co-ordinator of Mujib Borsho, Kamal Naser Chowdhury along with different organizations like Police, RAB, NSI were present at the meeting.

The inaugural ceremony of Mujib Borsho will be held at Dhaka's old airport and parade ground on March 17. The parade ground will be closed for public from 3:15pm onwards.

"This is the second meeting of the security forces to conduct the celebrations in an organized and peaceful manner. We are expecting more than a hundred thousand guests at the ceremony and the traffic arrangements for the arrival and departure of guests will be announced later," said the home minister.

There will be special security measures taken for presidents, prime ministers and intellectuals of different countries who will attend the ceremony, he added.

When asked if Narendra Modi will be welcomed in the country amid protests against him by different political parties and the Students' Right Conservation Council, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said: "We are a liberal state, we will run according to our own ways, it does not matter what others do. India supported us during our Liberation War."

When asked if there will be restrictions for any country due to COVID-19 virus he informed that no such restriction has been announced yet.
