Road Transport and Bridges Minister Qbaidul Quader has said the new Road Transport Act passed in the parliament will be implemented at any cost.

“No influence or influential people can make the act ineffective,” Quader said on Monday.

Quader added: “I have spoken to the prime minister about it and she told me not to delay the execution of the law any further.”

He said this while speaking at a press briefing regarding some current issues at the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry office.

He added: “Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to execute the law in a tolerable/bearable manner.”

Though the act was supposed to be enforced from November 1,  it has come into effect from Sunday (November 17), the minister added.

Quader further said: “This law was made to bring back law and order on the streets and not to punish anyone.”

“There were multiple pressures from different places to delay execution of the act. And keeping those pressures in mind, extra 17-18 days were given,” Quader, also the Awami League general secretary said.
