Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has vowed to work as long as she is alive to materialize Sonar Bangla as dreamt by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
"I have nothing to get for my personal gains, rather my aim in life is to materialize the ideals of Bangabandhu based on which he had run the country," she said at a discussion organized by the UK chapter of Awami League in London on Saturday.
Recalling her bitter experience after returning from exile, following the August 15 massacre in 1975, the premier said she returned home alone losing all her near and dear ones.
Highlighting various successes of the present government, Sheikh Hasina said the Awami League has a policy to develop and advance Bangladesh.
Taking a swipe at BNP, the prime minister said it turned Bangladesh into a "food deficit" country during their reign between 2001-2006.
The Awami League chief also elaborated on the vast destructive activities of the BNP-led government.
She said that BNP leaders had indulged in unbridled corruption, money-laundering, and looting "orphan money." While its activists burned people to death, terrorized people and formed militant groups.
At the beginning of her speech, Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of the Father of the Nation and other martyred members of her family as well as the four national martyred leaders.
