Bangladesh Coast Guard has been honoured with the National Fish Award 2018 for outstanding contributions in the fisheries sector, including its preservation and development.
The force’s Director General Rear Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury received the award from Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda at a ceremony held in the National Museum in Dhaka on Monday afternoon, according to a press release.
It said that like every year, the Coast Guard had efficiently participated in this year’s jatka (ilish fry less than 23cm in length) conservation campaign, aimed at ensuring proper production of ilish fry, by conducting regular raids between January 10 and June 30.
