Dhaka Central Jail authorities recaptured Md Sohel, 42, from his residence at Nurer Char in Keraniganj early Sunday.
Sohel was convicted in a narcotics case and sentenced to two years imprisonment by a mobile court.
Additional IG (Prison) Colonel Iqbal Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune: “A jail police team, led by Deputy Jailer Sorbottom Dewan, rearrested Sohel.
“He has been taken to Central Jail.”
Sohel was taken to DMCH on November 28 from central jail with a urinary tract infection under the supervision of two jail guards – Azizul Hakim and Nazrul Manik.
Sohel was given the release order from DMCH on Tuesday.
Later, Sohel escaped through the ventilator when the guards escorted him to a nearby toilet.
The guards went inside to check and found that Sohel had made his escape.
