The BNP on Friday at a rally at Naya Paltan urged party activists not to leave Dhaka and help it implement its programs to oust the government successfully.
There was intermittent rain during the rally, and party leaders said it would even brave storms to “restore democracy” in Bangladesh.
The opposition party held a grand rally before its Naya Paltan office to press home its demand for a non-partisan government during the general election.
The party's central and metropolitan leaders also spoke at the program.
Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said: “A new program will be announced at the rally… Everyone needs to make it a success.”
He urged BNP leaders and activists to stay in Dhaka and not return home until the ousting of the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
Thousands of leaders and activists of the BNP gathered in front of the party's Naya Paltan central office on Friday.
The rally, presided over by BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, started just after 2pm.
