Ahmed Rubel laid eternal rest in Gazipur

Prominent Bangladeshi actor Ahmed Reza Rubel was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Gazipur on Thursday.

He was buried at the Gazipur City Corporation graveyard after the Namaz-e-Janaza at Rajbari ground of Joydebpur.

His body was brought from Dhaka to his home “Uttar Chayabeethi” in Gazipur city on Afternoon.

Friends, relatives, neighbours, and fans, along with local MP Zahid Ahsan Russel, attended his Namaz-e-Janaza. 

His body was kept at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on Thursday from 10:30am to 12:30pm for people to pay respect. 

Many artists and celebrities from the theatre and cinema arena of the country appeared in the morning to the tribute organized by the initiative of Dhaka Theatre. 

They paid tributes to the actor and also shared memories with Ahmed Rubel.

Ahmed Rubel was set to attend a special screening of Nurul Alam Atique's new film, “Peyarar Subas” on Wednesday at Star Cineplex.

After reaching the Bashundhara City Complex in Panthapath, the actor fell unconscious in the shopping mall's parking lot.

At that time, he was rushed to the hospital, where the duty doctor pronounced him dead.

Ahmed Rubel was born on May 3, 1968 in Rajarampur village of Chapainawabganj. He was living permanently in Gazipur with his family.

Ahmed Rubel studied at Rani Vilasmani Government Boys High School in Gazipur. His father, educationist Professor Ayesh Uddin was the General Secretary of Gazipur District Shilpakala Academy. His father also played a leading role in the practice of literature and culture.

Actor and journalist Syed Moksedul Alam Liton said: "Rubel is one of our very close friends. I wished him success as a virtuous individual and encouraged him to do more good. But this did not happen."

Rubel began his acting career with the Dhaka Theatre and progressed to the silver screen, small screen, and OTT projects. His breakthrough came with Ekushey Television’s popular series Pret, based on Muhammad Zafar Iqbal's novel of the same name and directed by Aahir Alam.

Besides his vibrant presence on television and OTT screens, Rubel has also acted in several noteworthy films, including Chandrokotha, Bachelor, Shyamol Chhaya, The Last Thakur, Guerrilla, Jonakir Aalo, Parapaar, Poush Maser Pirit, Alatchakra: Circle of Desire, Laal Moroger Jhuti, Chiranjeeb Mujib, and Peyarar Subas.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted actor Ahmed Reza Rubel.
