Eleven years have passed since the tragic fire incident at Tazreen Fashion in Ashulia, Savar.
From Friday morning, the relatives of the deceased workers gathered in the Nischintapur area in front of the factory to pay their respects.
Subsequently, various labour organizations, including Garment Sramik Trade Union Federation, Bangladesh Garments and Shilpa Shramik Federation, Garment Sramik Oikya League, United Federation of Garment Works, Garment Sramik Front, Garment Sramik Oikya Forum, and Garment Sramik Mukti Andolan, marched, offering tributes to the deceased workers with flowers in hand.
Labour leaders highlighted the lack of a trial in the Tazreen case after 11 years, expressing the hardship faced by the families of the deceased workers and the struggles of the injured workers leading crippled lives.
They reiterated their demand to demolish the Tazreen building, rehabilitate the workers on-site, or construct a hospital, calling for justice against the perpetrator, Delwar.
On November 24, 2012, around 113 workers lost their lives in a fire at Tazreen factory in Jashanpur, Ashulia, with around 300 workers sustaining injuries.
