Police have detained a teenager from Narayanganj’s Fatullah area after a video of him firing a pistol went viral on social media.
The law enforcers apprehended Farhan Ahmed Rahul alias Tanvir, 17, in the early hours of Tuesday, said Fatullah Model police station OC Rakibuzzaman.
Earlier on Monday, a video of an individual firing blanks with a pistol was shared on Facebook from an account named Farhan Ahmed Rahul, with the caption “FaSt TiMe MeShEn cHalAilaM” (fired a gun for the first time).
However, the face of the person firing the gun or that of the one who recorded the video could not be seen clearly in the clip.
OC Rakibuzzaman told Dhaka Tribune: “We identified the teenager as soon as we saw the video and detained him. He is currently being interrogated.”
The police were still undecided over the action to be taken against the detainee, he added.
It might be recalled that on November 25, 2019, a teenager named Shohan was arrested after a video of him firing blanks went viral on Facebook.
