Mojammel Hossain Kishor has demanded that the investigation of Rifat Sharif murder be held under the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Mojammel, father of Ayesha Siddika Minni who has been accused in the murder case of her husband Rifat, made the request to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Home Ministry and IGP at a press conference in Barguna on Wednesday.
He said: “A group of politically influential people are trying to derail the investigation process and make my daughter [Minni] a scapegoat.
“I no longer have trust in Barguna police.”

Minni’s father said: “We had to take our daughter to Dhaka for treatment earlier [before Rifat’s murder]. She is not in a good health.”
He said: “My daughter has become mentally disturbed due to police torture. She is in desperate need for treatment.”
Rifat was indiscriminately hacked by a group of youths in Barguna in front of Minni on June 26.
On July 16, police arrested Minni. A court placed her on a five-day remand the following day.

On July 18, Barguna Superintendent of Police (SP) Maruf Hossain said Minni confessed to her involvement in the murder.
The next day, a Barguna court recorded her statements.
Till date, 15 people have been arrested in connection with Rifat Sharif's murder. All of them have confessed to their crimes.
Prime accused Nayan Bond was killed in a gunfight with police on July 2.
