The lawyer of Ayesha Siddiqua Minni has met Barguna 1 constituency lawmaker Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu at the latter's office in Barguna town.

Advocate Mahbubul Bari Aslam, general secretary of Barguna Association of Lawyers, met the lawmaker on July 20, hours after his client's father Mojammel Hossain Kishor alleged the local lawmaker and his son were contriving to frame Minni.

Mahbubul Bari was appointed by Mojammel Hossain to represent his daughter Minni in the murder case of her husband Rifat Sharif.

Minni gave a statement confessing her part in the murder before a Barguna court on July 19.

Mahbubul Bari Aslam, along with the association President Abdur Rahman Nantu, entered the office of the lawmaker around 9:45pm.

They held a closed-door meeting with Shambhu in presence of his son Sunam Debnath and Barguna Additional Public Prosecutor Akteruzzaman Bahadur.

When contacted, Mahbubul Bari said it was a courtesy call and nothing else.

Minni's father Mojammel Hossain said the lawyer should not have met with the lawmaker.

"I will make a decision about the matter after taking counsel with other lawyers," he added.
