Local volunteers in Madaripur take initiative and repair road

Kulpodi youth community have repaired the 1.5km road from Madaripur sadar upazila to Kulpodi Ghat at their own initiative. Local sources said the road stretching from Kulpodi intersection to Kalkini primarily falls under Madaripur Roads and Highways Department. Due to a lack of maintenance, the road had fallen into a state of disrepair, with large potholes disrupting the passage of vehicles and causing suffering to their passengers. The state of the road had also caused numerous accidents. Despite multiple complaints by locals to the concerned authorities, the latter took no initiatives to mend the road. Fed up with this inaction, members of the local youth community went on a collection drive to amass the money needed to purchase the necessary raw materials, following which they began work on the road. On Saturday, Madaripur municipality also lent a hand to these youth to assist in the repair work with raw materials, equipment, and manpower.
