Bangladesh Railway will likely start the advance sale of train tickets from March 25.
According to railway sources, 100% of tickets will be sold online.
Railway Minister Md Zillul Hakim will give the details in a press conference on Wednesday.
The train tickets for April 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 will be available on March 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 respectively.
Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on April 11 if the month of Ramadan is completed in 30 days.
In that case, April 10 train tickets will be sold subject to moon sighting. The sale of return train tickets will start from April 3. April 13 train tickets will be given on that day.
Seven pairs of special trains will run on Eid. Two pairs of these will run only on Eid days. The remaining five pairs will run from before Eid.
Every year, passengers face the dilemma of getting tickets online during Eid. Millions of people trying at once cause server problems.
So, the train tickets for the eastern and western zone will be sold at separate times.
Tickets will likely be issued for the eastern zone in the morning and for the western zone in the afternoon.
According to railway sources, 44 metre gauge and 27 broad gauge coaches will be additionally added for the Eid journey.
The total number of seats in the intercity train departing from Dhaka is 29,772. With special trains, it can increase to around 32,000.
Nilsagar and Chilahati Express will depart from Cantonment Station instead of Kamalapur.
