The Palestine Embassy in Bangladesh has demanded the Israeli government refrain from bombing civilians, including women and children in Gaza, and inciting violence and tensions in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and especially around religious sites.
In a statement, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Dhaka emphasized the Palestinians' legitimate right to resist the unlawful occupation, oppression, violence, and racist practices of the Israeli occupiers.
Palestine is urgently calling on the international community to intervene decisively to protect civilians and prevent further suffering.
The embassy further reached out to Muslims in Bangladesh and worldwide, urging them to stand firmly in solidarity and provide invaluable support to the Palestinian people who are bravely resisting the occupying power.
Additionally, the embassy called upon the Bangladeshi media to carefully evaluate their sources of information during their coverage of the situation.
It is imperative for the world to recognize that achieving lasting peace necessitates the end of the occupation of Palestinian land, the recognition of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the upholding of Palestinians' right to independence and autonomy.
As Israel continues its vengeance-driven bombing campaign on civilian residences and structures in densely populated Gaza, innocent Palestinians find themselves trapped with nowhere to escape.
As of Sunday, the Israeli attacks have resulted in the killing of 413 Palestinians, including 78 children and 41 women, while 2,300 others have been injured. In a mere 36 hours, Israel obliterated 1,012 homes, 11 residential and high-rise buildings, an UN school, three mosques, and displaced 74,000 people, leaving them homeless.
The embassy's statement strongly condemned the Israeli occupation for its apparent disregard for the lives of innocent civilians. It pointed out Israel's pattern of portraying itself as the victim while acting as the perpetrator, systematically causing suffering and loss of life over the past 75 years. Palestinian lives, in this context, have been dehumanized and disregarded as Israel relentlessly pursues its goal of erasing an entire people and occupying their land by force.
Despite the escalating ferocity, racism, and extremism displayed by the occupying power, along with its daily violations of Palestinian human rights, pleas for international protection for the Palestinian people remain unmet. The situation has reached a dangerous and explosive point, as repeatedly warned, yet the international community has failed to respond adequately. The embassy expressed deep concern over the one-sided narrative promoted by Western governments and media in favor of the Zionist occupier and its violent agenda.
The statement also outlined some of Israel's settler-colonial and annexationist policies, including military raids on Palestinian communities, arrests and abuse of Palestinian civilians, collective punishment, terror and violence by Israeli settlers, land seizures, forced displacement, and the construction of colonial settlements. These policies collectively amount to a grave injustice and a stark violation of international law.
