Gulistan blast injured in agony with glass shards throughout body

Khalilur Rahman is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a critical state after sustaining injuries in an explosion at a seven-storey building in Dhaka's Gulistan Tuesday.

He is in extreme agony as he suffered critical injuries after being hit by glass shards from windows of the building all over his body in the explosion.

Khalilur Rahman's brother-in-law Sohrab Hossain told reporters in front of the emergency department of DMCH on Wednesday morning that Khalilur Rahman used to work at Mumin Seed Company in that building. His whole body is now full of glass splinters.

Khalilur, the father of a son and a daughter, is also crying from the pain of burn injuries, lying in a hospital bed.

Majed, who worked at Continental Courier Service, delivered goods to Mumin Seed before the explosion.

He forgot to take the memo after delivery. He went there again to take the memo. But before he reached there, the explosion took place, he said.

Another injured, Shahidul Islam, said he runs a fruit business in Gulistan. He went to collect his dues in the evening. He was walking near the building when he was met with the blast, his son-in-law Khokon told the media.

Khokon said that one hand, one leg and part of the head of Shahidul Islam were burnt. There was a lot of bleeding. But the doctors are taking care, and his condition is slightly improving.

Meanwhile, the Fire Service on Wednesday morning resumed its rescue operation for the second day at the building.
