BNP has announced to hold mass rally in Dhaka on December 30.
However, countrywide protest at the district and metropolitan levels with like-minded parties will still be on December 24.
On Saturday, BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan announced the fresh date at a press conference at the party's Naya Paltan central office in the capital.
Regarding the fresh date of the mass procession, Nazrul Islam Khan said BNP does not want a conflict. They want a peaceful solution to the crisis in a democratic way.
“Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has urged to change the date for our mass rally in Dhaka as it coincides with Awami League's national council. Therefore, we also want to behave like a political party,” he said.
However, the mass processions in other parts of the country will be held on the pre-scheduled date, he added.
Many political parties will join this fight and many of them have announced their programs on the same day as well. Thanking all those parties, Nazrul Islam said: "We hope it will be possible to bring down this government through simultaneous movement."
BNP Vice Chairman Mohammad Shahjahan, Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Organizing Secretary and Acting Secretary Syed Emran Saleh Prince, among others, were present in the press conference.
BNP announced a mass rally program across Bangladesh on December 24 from the Dhaka divisional mass rally at Golapbag in Dhaka on December 10.
However, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader urged BNP not to hold the mass procession in Dhaka on December 24 to avoid any conflict as the ruling Awami League's national council is scheduled to be held the same day.
