The Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs has sent letters to all public prosecutors across the country, requesting a list of politically motivated harassment cases.
The letter, signed by Deputy Solicitor Sana Md Mahroof Hossain, seeks these lists to be submitted by December 17.
The letter specifies that the cases in question span from January 6, 2009, to August 5, 2024, particularly those filed before and after the national election held in 2014, 2018, and 2024.
These cases, often referred to as "ghost cases," were filed against political activists and others.
Due to the lack of accurate and comprehensive information regarding these cases, it has become challenging to take lawful remedial measures.
Thus, detailed data on these cases has been deemed urgent.
The letter emphasizes the need for meticulousness, responsibility, and utmost caution in preparing the list of cases.
Once the lists are received, the ministry will conduct thorough verification and scrutiny.
