BMD: Mild heat wave over 5 places likely to abate

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday predicted the ongoing mild to moderate heat wave at five places of the country is likely to abate from some places, in the next 24 hours commencing 9am.

"Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions and the districts of Sylhet and Jessore and it may abate from some places," said a met office bulletin this morning.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy fall at places over the country," it added.

However, the day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 39.4°C in Sayedpur of Rangpur division while Sunday's minimum temperature was 23.5°C jointly in Srimangal of Sylhet Division and in Feni of Chittagong Division.

Rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am on Sunday was recorded 54mm in Feni of Chittagong Division.
