CTTC anti-militancy drives end in Moulvibazar, no new detentions

The operations of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police for more militant hideouts in Moulvibazar's Kulaura upazila ended on Tuesday with no new detentions.

The CTTC carried out its drives on Tuesday morning with the help of two people arrested in a previous similar drive to bust militant hideouts in the area.

The operation was led by the CTTC chief Md Asaduzzaman, along with relevant senior officials.

Md Asaduzzaman gave details of the incident after their return from the operation at a press briefing held at Police Lines in Moulvibazar at 6pm on Tuesday.

During the press briefing, the CTTC chief mentioned that they conducted drives in over 20 hills with no trace of any suspect.

However, they were able to seize 95 detonators, 6kg explosives and 14 bullets, he added.

The CTTC conducted the drive in Pahari Baishali Tila near Jugi Tila Bazar of Purba Tattuli village of Karmadha union of Kulaura.

On Monday, at least 17 people were detained on suspicion of being militants in Moulvibazar's Kormodha union.

On Saturday, 10 people were detained in a raid on a suspected militant hideout in a remote hilly area under Kulaura police station of Moulvibazar.
