EC Rashida: All elections are equally important to us

Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana said that all elections are equally important to them.

She told this at an exchange meeting at Circuit House, Gazipur on Wednesday.

The EC said: “We monitor wherever there is election. There is no pressure on us regarding Gazipur City Corporation election. Everyone is doing their work for the election.”

Regarding why she would exchange views with the judicial magistrates on the day before election, Rashida said that the judicial magistrates will evaluate irregularities during the election day. She discussed with them to ensure harmony in this regard.

She said: “We want to have a fair and impartial voting in the presence and participation of the voters. There is no chance of any kind of disturbance in it. That's what we will do, that's what we strive to do. Surely you (voters) will come to the centre without fear.”

“I have spoken with the Gazipur Metropolitan Police commissioner. He assured me that he will ensure that the voters can vote in a fair environment,” added the election commissioner.

Gazipur city election will also be monitored on the election day on Thursday. CCTV cameras have already been installed in the centre. “If we find any irregularity during monitoring, we will definitely take it into account,” she added.

Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana will visit the voting centres for inspection after the meeting with the judicial magistrates.
