Police: Action will be taken over attempted sabotage

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) would take legal actions if any BNP leaders or activists cause vandalism or untoward situation at its divisional rally on the Golapbagh ground in the Sayedabad area of Dhaka on Saturday. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner (Operations) Biplab Kumar Sarkar told reporters during a security inspection at Naya Paltan in the capital.

Regarding less traffic in the capital since morning, he said: “There is no instructions by DMP regarding movement.”

The DMP joint commissioner added: “Few days back, cocktails were exploded targeting at the police. They were attacked and some of them got injured. Following that, the police officials were briefed to remain alert to prevent any danger to the residents of the city.”

The country's largest opposition party's mass rally started at 11am on Saturday on the Golapbagh playground, near Sayedabad bus terminal in Dhaka.
