Speaker: CPA working to engage youths in politics

Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Thursday said Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is working hard to engage youths in politics to bring prosperity. The speaker, also the chairperson of CPA, made the remark while attending Small Branches Conference in the 63th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) at Hotel Radission Blu in Dhaka. She said: “We should take effective steps to ensure youth involvement in politics as their participation will bring new prosperity.” “CPA is always working with Small Branches countries to accelerate democratic practice, reduce poverty in the society and ensure sustainable development among the countries,” she added. “CPC gives opportunity to all the Small Branches countries to work together. It will help them to develop bonding among the countries and they can share their experiences to overcome challenges,” she said. CPA is also working to ensure gender equality and increase women participation in all sectors, she added. Akbar Khan, CPA secretary, and Angelo Farrugia, speaker of the House of Representative of Malta, were also present at the conference.
