The capital’s Dhanmondi 27 road has turned into a battlezone after clashes were reported between alleged Chhatra League members and quota reform protesters.
College and school students, comprising the majority of the protesters, have scattered to nearby areas seeking refuge.
Meanwhile, police have responded by firing tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, there are reports of gunfire coming from near Dhanmondi City Hospital to Dhanmondi 27 intersection.
At least four people were killed and over 1000 injured during a clash between quota protesters and police in Dhaka’s Uttara on Thursday.
The incident occurred as police and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) attempted to disperse protesters who had gathered since 11am.
Mizanur Rahman, the superintendent of Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, confirmed that four of the injured were declared dead upon arrival.
