Sust students block highway ignoring police obstruction

Ignoring police obstruction, students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) on Thursday blocked the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway.

On Thursday at around 4:15pm, the students took out a procession from the campus and blocked the highway.

Despite police attempts to prevent them, the protesters managed to take position on the road.

During the protest, the students chanted slogans demanding the abolition of quotas.

Asadullah Al Galib, the coordinator of the protesters and a student of Sust, said: "We are conducting a peaceful protest. The police have obstructed us. They have attacked us. Despite being injured, we are continuing our peaceful protest. Our demands must be met. If not, the protest will continue."
