Five members of the Narayanganj district police have been suspended on the charge of extortion from a cattle-laden vehicle.
AIG of police headquarters Inamul Haque Sagar said that they were suspended on Saturday following the order of IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.
The suspended police officials are- Sub-Inspectors Sheikh Nazrul Islam, Md Asaduzzaman, constables Md Nazir Sheikh, Jugal Mandal, and Tanveer Hossain Akash.
An investigation committee headed by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) of Narayanganj district has been formed to investigate this incident.
Departmental action will be taken against them as per rules following a probe committee report.

“Police is taking immediate action if a complaint of extortion or harassment is found against someone in the market of sacrificial animals. Strict legal action is being taken against whoever is the culprit,” he said.
