Bangladeshi independent editor and curator, Sadia Sartaj Rahman was selected as curators' week delegate from Bangladesh for the Liverpool Biennial 2023, UK's largest festival of contemporary visual art.
The festival, in partnership with the British Council, will be hosting a week of events, discourse and networking from August 1 to 6 under the theme “uMoya: The Sacred Return of Lost Things”.
An active participant in the “Ke Ba Kahara” curatorial collective, Sadia Sartaj has previously designed and delivered public programmes, exhibitions, and publications in significant not-for-profit arts initiatives both in Bangladesh and the UK.
Sadia states, "I look forward to a concentrated period of exchange and learning with a community of like-minded practitioners from diverse backgrounds. I hope the programme will provide opportunities for unusual inspiration by bringing practitioners together to think about care and caring in focussed but open-ended ways.”
British Council Director Programmes Bangladesh, David Knox states on the biennial, “‘We are excited that our art and cultural engagement work continues building vibrant material connections between the UK and Bangladesh. We hope that more artists from Bangladesh, like Sadia Sartaj Rahman, participate in the Liverpool Biennial, which is such an important part of the UK's visual art scene.”
