Manik Mia Avenue hosts vibrant Pohela Boishakh concert

To mark the celebration of Bengali New Year 1432, a vibrant concert unfolded on Monday at the heart of the capital on Manik Mia Avenue, filling the air with music, colors and cultural harmony, with a drone show scheduled for later in the day.

The event, which commenced at 3pm, was an artistic tribute to Pohela Boishakh, featuring a variety of musical and cultural performances that added vivid hues to the festivities.

The event was graced by the presence of Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki as the chief guest. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen attended as the special guest.

Also in attendance were ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from several countries, along with senior officials from both government and private sectors.

The concert opened with a performance by Bandarban’s “Basic Guitar Learning School,” setting the tone for an evening of musical diversity.

Following this, the Garo community and the RNR band “F Minor” delivered captivating musical numbers.

A powerful rendition of the iconic “Eso He Boishakh” was performed by a group of collective artists, stirring the spirit of the new year.

Individual performances followed Mithun Chakraborty and Palakar Islam Uddin performing soulful solos.

Rakib and Sagar Dewan performed both solo and duet pieces, including two more duets featuring Rakib and Ustad Arj Ali.

Atia Anisha enchanted the audience with three solo songs including “Cholo Niralay,” while Ahmed Hasan Sani rendered emotional performances of “Majhe Majhe Tumi Ele,” “Manush Keno Erokom” and “Golpo Na.”

The evening closed with Parsha’s powerful performance of three songs, including “July Andolon,” before the stage was lit up by the high-energy performance of the band “Ashes”.

Youthful celebration surrounds concert

The concert attracted an overwhelming crowd of young people and visitors of all ages, transforming Manik Mia Avenue into a melting pot of joy and festivity.

The atmosphere was electric, as attendees swayed, danced and sang in harmony with the live music.

As the evening progressed, the avenue became a canvas of celebration, some with flutes in hand, others wearing colorful ribbons, all immersed in the rhythm of the day.

The weather, delightfully pleasant, added to the magic of an event that felt like a ceremonial welcome to the new year.

Dazzling drone show

The crowning feature of the evening awaits at dusk - a drone show, organized with technical support from the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and in collaboration with the government of Bangladesh.

This display is expected to stand as a symbolic representation of the enduring friendship between China and Bangladesh.
