Train services on the Jamalpur-Dhaka route were disrupted on Wednesday morning after a coach of the intercity Brahmaputra Express derailed in Mymensingh.

The incident occurred around 9:30am at a railway crossing in the College Road area of Mymensingh city, causing temporary disruption to train movement on the route.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Mymensingh Railway Police Station Akter Hossain said the Brahmaputra Express was travelling from Dewanganj in Jamalpur to Dhaka when one of its coaches left the tracks near the crossing.

Following the derailment, train operations on the route were affected, prompting railway authorities to launch immediate recovery efforts.

Upon receiving the information, railway rescue personnel rushed to the scene and began salvage operations. A rescue train was later used to pull the derailed coach to Mymensingh Railway Station.

Railway officials are now working to place the coach back on the tracks and restore normal train services as quickly as possible, the OC said.

No casualties were reported in the incident.
