Major roads of Dhaka city was submerged in knee-deep water following one-hour rain on Wednesday evening.
The rain that lasted for an hour left the footpaths in many areas submerged in water.
The city dwellers were stuck in traffic jams due to the accumulation of water on the roads.
Water flooded inside CNG vehicles, causing their engines to stall and worsening the traffic situation.
At 7pm, Labani Dutta boarded the CNG in heavy rain after leaving office from Banglamotor. She was in hurry to go home to her small child. However, the torrential rain turned her journey into a nightmare.
Her CNG broke down halfway, forcing her to wade through knee-deep water to reach her home on Panthpath.
Labani shared: "The water was above my knees, and I couldn't find the footpath. I followed others through the water to get home.”
Many office workers faced the same situation, the rush to return home clashed with the relentless rain and traffic jams that felt like a curse.
A passenger stuck in traffic in Shantinagar noted that water had also entered the vehicle. He ended up leaving the driver behind and trudging through filthy water to get home.
