Four members of a family have been hacked to death over land dispute at Badhati village under Nandail upazila in Mymensingh.
The deceased are Belal Hossain, 50, his sons Farid, 25, Himel, 14, and Pavel, 10.
The police also recovered the body of one of the attackers from the spot on Saturday morning, hours after Belal and his sons were killed.
Nandail police station OC Syed Abdullah said: “Belal had a long-standing dispute with his elder brother Lal Mia over land properties. Following the enmity, Lal Mia's supporters attacked Belal's house after Tarabi prayers and hacked him along with his three sons around 10:30pm Friday.”
“Hearing the screams of the victims, locals went to their rescue. But, they died soon after being rescued."
Being information, police recovered the bodies. But, the law enforcers failed to capture the criminals as they fled the scene immediately.
"On Saturday morning, locals noticed the body of Jamal Hossain, 22, son of Lal Mia, lying beside a pond near the spot and informed the police. We also recovered the body," added the OC.
