Some 23 Bangladeshi nationals along with 2,000 tourists have been stranded in India's North Sikkim due to a landslide triggered by a flash flood since Thursday.

Other stranded tourists include ten Americans and three Singaporeans, as reported by NDTV.

The deluge has blocked the main road from the North Sikkim district headquarters, Mangan, to Chungthang at Pegong Supply Khola, resulting in a standstill of transport activities.

Indian officials have said that road clearance operations will commence once the rainfall ceases.

Consequently, about 1,975 domestic and 36 foreign tourists are currently marooned at hotels in the Lachen and Lachung areas.

Furthermore, 345 cars and 11 motorbikes are trapped at various locations in North Sikkim.
