Bangladesh has allowed India to send relief material from one of its state to another using Bangladesh territory.
A senior government official said due to flood in Assam, roads were badly damaged and relief materials could not be sent to the state from other adjacent Indian states.
Under the circumstances, Bangladesh allowed India to use its territory to send goods on humanitarian ground and this time New Delhi wants to send only oil tanker as relief material, the official said.
An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Foreign Ministry to discuss the issue on Monday, he said.
The oil tankers would enter Bangladesh through Dawki border in Sylhet and travel about 150 kilometres to Chatlapur of Moulvibazar to go into Tripura, he added.
Both the countries need to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to make the transportation thing happen and India has already sent a MoU draft to the government, the official said.
After signing the MoU, India can use Bangladesh territory to send relief material till September 30, he added.
India sent rice from Kolkata to Tripura using Bangladesh territory on humanitarian ground while Dhaka used Indian Territory to send relief material to Nepal.
