Amit Shah clarifies government’s ‘lukewarm' attitude to Tripura

Update : 12 Feb 2018, 02:23 AM
With just one week left before the Tripura legislative assembly polls, BJP President Amit Shah has responded to an allegation that the BJP-led government’s attitude in providing funds to the northeast state of India is ‘lukewarm'. “Tripura received Rs7,283 crore under the 13th finance commission of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government. But under the 14th finance commission of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government, the amount rose to Rs25,396 crore,” Shah told a rally at Mohanpur constituency on Sunday. Tripura’s leftist government had recently alleged that the Modi government was ‘lackadaisical’ when it came to the matter of allotting funds to Tripura. Taking on Tripura Chief Minister (CM) Manik Sarkar, Shah said: “I’ve learnt the CM has been alleging that the BJP government at the centre is not providing fund to the state. Now, I have come here with concrete reports pertaining to the outlay being pumped in by the Centre. “I request the CM to counter these reports when he addresses election rally tomorrow (Monday).” Shah said he visited the state 18 times till now and were aware of the people's woes and problems. “The central government has taken 112 schemes for the state but most of them have not been implemented yet,” he alleged. Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday also unveiled BJP’s election manifesto at the party headquarters in Tripura.
