Canada crash: Legal complications delay repatriation of 2 bodies

The accident left three Bangladeshi students dead and another, son of singer Kumar Biswajit, injured

The bodies of two Bangladeshi students - Arian and Angela Baroi - who were killed in a road crash in Canada will not reach Bangladesh on Friday due to legal complications. 

Confirming the matter, Arian's sister Sanjida Alam said as the Canadian authorities are not allowing the bodies to be taken to Bangladesh until all legal complications are resolved.

She added that two cases have been filed over the accident that took place last week. It is currently uncertain when the bodies will be sent to Bangladesh.

On Monday, ATM Alamgir, Arian's father said the necessary documents were submitted to bring Arian and Angela's bodies to Bangladesh. 

Three Bangladeshi students were killed in the accident that took place on Highway 427 southbound ramp to Dundas Street West in Ontario on February 13.

The deceased students are Shahriar Khan, Angela Baroi and Arian.

They were all living in Toronto on study permits from Bangladesh, said Ontario Provincial Police in a tweet.

According to the police, Nibir Kumar was driving the car involved in the accident. The rest were passengers. Two died on the spot while another died after being taken to hospital.
