A 47-year-old Bangladeshi businessman and two others were shot dead in separate gun attacks in the US states of Georgia and Alabama respectively.
In Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, Abu Saleh Mohammad Mahfuz Ahmed was killed by an unidentified assailant on Wednesday, reported UNB.
Originally from Noakhali, Saleh lived in Atlanta with his father Abu Taher, wife Mahmuda Begum, son Faruz Ahmed and daughter Faiza Mahfuz, said the deceased's younger brother Masum Ahmed.
Saleh went to America about 12 years ago in search of a living after winning the Diversity Immigrant Visa Lottery or DV Lottery. He set up his own business in Georgia after working at a shop.
On Wednesday morning Bangladesh time, a man fired bullets at him inside his shop, killing Saleh on the spot, Tarek Hasan, a Bangladeshi who lives in Georgia, said.
Saleh was buried at a local cemetery after funeral prayers in the small hours of yesterday (Bangladesh time).
The other gun rampage took place at St Stephen's Episcopal Church in the town of Vestavia Hills on Thursday evening and a suspect is in custody, the town's police department said on Facebook.
The shooting took place as the church was holding a potluck dinner, the church said on its website.
Since the start of the year more than 20,000 people have died of firearm violence in the country.
