Bangladeshi youth killed, dumped in car trunk in Kansas

Update : 28 Nov 2017, 09:17 PM
A Bangladeshi national has been shot dead and found dumped in the trunk of a car he used for pizza deliveries in the US state of Kansas, local media reported on Tuesday. Quoting police, local channel KWCH reported that M Hasan Rahman Badhon went missing on Saturday night after completing two deliveries to blocks 1100 and 1300 on North Williamsburg Street in Wichita, around 200 miles southwest of Kansas City. Police discovered the 26-year-old’s body after responding to a phone call at around 11:45am local time on Sunday regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in the 7800 block of East Pagent, near Central and Rock Road. Another channel, KAKE, reported that Hasan’s colleagues at the local Pizza Hut outlet had also notified police when he did not return to work after making the deliveries. Lt Todd Ojile of the Wichita Police Department told The Wichita Eagle that it was unusual for attacks to happen on pizza delivery drivers. “This is out of the ordinary and strange. We’re looking at every angle of what could have happened or why this occurred,” he said. With no sign of robbery, police have opened a homicide investigation into Hasan’s death. No arrests had been made by Tuesday. The Wichita Bangladesh Community and the Islamic Society of Wichita - of which he was a member - have come together to mourn the death of Hasan, who moved to the US from Bangladesh seven years ago and had enrolled Wichita State University. An initiative to organise a fundraiser has also been taken to collect money to send his body back to his family in Bangladesh, said media reports. Expressing grief and “heartfelt sympathy” over Hasan’s death, Pizza Hut of Southeast Kansas said its employees and their safety was a top priority for them. “We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement as part of their investigation,” the company said in a statement.
