The mother of a teenager who was brutally stabbed and killed in London over 12 years ago has renewed her plea for the public's help in tracking down the last remaining suspect in the case.

Hani Hicham Abou El Kheir, 16, was murdered in Pimlico—one of London's wealthiest areas—on January 27, 2013.

Following a trial at the Old Bailey in January 2014, five men were convicted of his murder and sentenced to a combined total of 131 years in prison. However, authorities say one suspect remains at large and have issued a fresh appeal for information on his whereabouts.

Dilawar Hussain, now 33, is of Bangladeshi origin. He was born in Paddington and grew up in London.

Police searched his home on Rampayne Street, Pimlico, four days after the murder, but found no trace of him.

An arrest warrant was issued by Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on 21 March 2013.

Investigations later revealed that Hussain, who was 21 at the time, had fled to Bangladesh.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers, who is leading the case, said officers believe Hussain is still in the country.

The metropolitan police confirmed that the arrest warrant remains active and that "efforts continue to be made" to ensure Hussain "faces justice for Hani's murder."

Hani's mother, Pauline Hickey, also issued an emotional appeal for information about Hussain's whereabouts.

“It has been 12 years since my only son, Hani, was hunted down and attacked in a busy street by a group of feral men,” said Hickey.

“While several people have been jailed for his murder, one suspect remains free. Hani was just a boy when he was killed—he had his whole life ahead of him, and it was brutally taken away."

“The pain of his loss has not faded with time. In fact, it feels even more painful knowing that Dilawar Hussain has so far evaded justice. If you have any information, I beg you to come forward and contact the police,” she said.

DCI Rogers added: “I am appealing for any information regarding the whereabouts of Dilawar Hussain. Hani's mother, Pauline, continues to fight for justice. We remain committed to holding all those responsible for her son’s murder to account, and we will not rest until we help her achieve that.”
