The name of Whitechapel rail station in the Whitechapel area of London, United Kingdom has been displayed in Bangla for the first time.
Its name can now be seen written in both Bangla and English on side-by-side signboards.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Friday posted pictures of the signs on Facebook.
Terming it a “special achievement for Bangladeshis”, Palak said: “This is the first time the name of a train station in London has been displayed in English as well as in Bangla.”
He also thanked everyone involved in making it happen.
Thousands of Bangladeshi expatriates live in the Whitechapel area of London.
