Last month was among the warmest Junes ever recorded, according to reports by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
NOAA concluded that this June was the sixth hottest in a 143-year record, with the year of 2022 as a whole ranking sixth warmest as well, reports The Hill.
Nasa found that June 2022 tied with June 2020 for the hottest June on record, with data dating back to the late 19th century.
The difference probably lay in the treatment of the polar regions in the two data sets, experts at Nasa and NOAA said.
But both data sets show that Earth has warmed dramatically, especially since around 1980.
According to NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), the month was the second warmest June for land temperature in both Asia and Europe.
Scientists say that the real message lies in the entirety of the data, not the data for just one month.
