Cricket star Shakib al Hasan's franchise hockey team, Monarch Mart Padma were crushed 7-1 by Acme Chattogram on the second day of the Hockey Champions Trophy in Dhaka Saturday night.
Acme's Indian midfielder Devindar Walmiki netted a treble to hand Monarch their second consecutive defeat in the league after losing 3-2 to Rupayan City Cumilla the previous day.
On the other hand, Acme look like favorites of the competition as it was their second win in a row after they defeated Saif Power Khulna on the opening day.
Walmiki, who scored two against Saif Power, completed the hat-trick within first two quarters while Tasin Ali, Rajib Das, Farhad Ahmed Shitul and Mahedi Hasan Jr scored one each to complete the riot.
Indian midfielder Chinglensana Kangujam scored the consolation goal for Monarch.
Meanwhile in the day's first match at the same venue, Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium, Walton Dhaka lost to Metro Express Barisal 2-1.
After a barren first half, Metro's Deen Islam Emon took the lead before Rokibul Hasan Rocky equalized the margin for Walton.
Akhimullah Eshook of Malaysia scored the winning goal for Metro two minutes before the end of stipulated time.
