Second BOA executive committee meeting held

A number of decisions were taken in Thursday's meeting

The second meeting of the Bangladesh Olympic Association's executive committee was held Thursday at Army Multipurpose Complex, Dhaka Cantonment with Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army and BOA president General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed in chair.

The meeting placed on record its gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after the BOA received Tk20 crores from the Prime Minister's relief fund to escalate the process of the olympic association's recent activities.

Ahead of the 22nd Commonwealth Games, 5th Islamic Solidarity Games and 19th Asian Games, which will all be held this year, athletes of 12 disciplines - archery, athletics, boxing, fencing, gymnastics, karate, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling - have already begun training from March 1.

This fact was brought to the attention during the meeting.

The Ex-Co meeting also decided to include the women's football team in the 19th Asiad and 4th Asian Youth Games.

In order to facilitate the daily activities of the BOA, a total of six sub-committees were also set up - training and development sub-committee, solidarity sub-committee, information and media sub-committee, administration and purchase sub-committee, medical and anti doping sub-committee and finance, audit, planning and budget sub-committee.

Other sub-committees will also be formed moving forward.

The organizing committees have started activities keeping their respective Games in mind in 2022.

Chefs de mission were also chosen in the meeting and they will all try to ensure that Bangladesh's preparation goes as smoothly as possible in the upcoming tournaments.

BOA vice president, Lieutenant General Moinul Islam (retd) will be the chef de mission in the 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, BOA member Siraj Uddin Alamgir in the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey and BOA treasurer AK Sarkar in the 19th Asiad in Hangzhou, China.
