Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation (BSSF) is all set to organize its first day-long online international air-rifle shooting competition to commemorate the birthday (18 October) of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A total of 14 shooters from seven countries, one male and one female from each team, will be taking part in the meet which will be inaugurated on Saturday a day before the final event.
Shooters from India, South Korea, Japan, Bhutan, Indonesia, and Pakistan along with the hosts will virtually participate from their respective shooting ranges in the presence of the judges and cameras set on players and the targets.
“The difference between normal and virtual game is that the participants are not shooting from the same venue. Each participant will have 60 shots for a total of 654 points with 10.9 shots in each attempt.” said the country’s premier shooter Abdullah Hel Baki, who scored 623 in the trial to be selected from Bangladesh along with Syed Atkia Hasan Disha.
Baki has been practicing for last 15 days after a long hiatus due to Covid-19 pandemic since March. He also said that the Sheikh Russel International Air Rifle Championship (Online) will be his first international event after South Asian Games 2019 held in Nepal in December last year. State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell is scheduled to inaugurate the event.
