Reigning champion WIM Rani Hamid continued her unbeaten run in the Marcel 39th National Women's Chess Championship 2019 and maintained her solo lead at the top of the table after beating Jannatul Ferdous in the 6th round at the BCF hall room on Tuesday.
Rani, representing Bangladesh Ansar & VDP, earned 5.5 points after six rounds of play. Five players – WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva, Afrin Jahan Munia, Ahmed Walijah and Nusrat Jahan Alo - are sharing the second position with five points each.
Rani won her 20th national women’s chess title during the previous edition last year.
