Avik Anwar won the Volkswagen Ameo Cup held in India on Sunday to become the first Bangladeshi to win an international motor sports event.
Anwar won Race 2 of the event, where he had to battle it out with India’s Anmol Singh and Aiman Sadat, the other Bangladesh racer who took part in this race.
The two Bangladeshi races had an intense contest until Anwar passed over Sadat at turn 5 before the end of the race.

The sport is not widely popular in Bangladesh due to the country’s lack of venues and coaching facilities.
Many young racers, however, are coming forward to take part in the sport. One such enthusiast Anwar is a three-time champion of the Rally Cross Championship in Bangladesh.
Anwar is friends with Bangladeshi cricketer Tamim Iqbal. The opening batsman congratulated his friend in his official facebook page.
