The Walton 34th national men’s and 8th national women’s wrestling tournament began on Monday at the Sheikh Russel roller skating complex at Paltan in Dhaka.
Almost 200 male and female wrestlers from different weight classes have taken part in the competition which will have its opening ceremony on Tuesday morning.
The tournament will conclude on Wednesday, 9 January and the prize distribution ceremony will also take part on the same day.
Walton group’s Senior Operative Director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar will be present in the opening ceremony as chief guest while Bangladesh amateur wrestling’s general secretary Tabiur Rahman will also be present.
Wrestlers from ten different weights for men – 57 kg, 61 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 74 kg, 79 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg – and ten different weights for women – 50 kg, 53 kg, 55 kg, 57 kg, 59 kg, 62 kg, 65 kg, 68 kg, 72 kg and 76 kg – will take part in the competition.
Among the men’s and women’s teams will be Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Ansar, Bangladesh Police along with different division based teams.
