Host Bangladesh dominated the opening day of the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh International Junior (U-19) Badminton Tournament as 15 young local shuttlers won their respective games out of a total of 16 matches at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in Paltan Monday.
A total of 18 shuttlers from four countries took part in the men’s U-19 singles where eight Bangladeshis won their games to reach the quarter-finals.

They are - Mangal Singha, Gourab Singha, Akib Solaiman, Abdul Hamid Lukman, Rownak Nabi Priyo, Khandokar Abdus Soad, Hanif Mohammed and Syed Saker Mohammad Sibgat Ullah.
In the women’s singles, five Bangladeshis – Farbin Binte Emdad Hridita, Rahima Jarin Ahmed, Rasma Akter, Urmi Akter and Farjana Akter - made it to the last eight while the other quarter-finalists are Ruhi Raju of Malaysia, Thinley Wangmo of Bhutan and Treesa Jolly of India.
A total of 32 participants from six countries are taking part in the tournament.
