All the Bangladesh participants saw the exit door from both the men’s and women’s singles events in the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh International Challenge Wednesday, while the hope only remained in the three doubles categories.
Gourab Singha, Mohammad Salman Khan and Chand Lal won their second-round matches in the men’s singles in the morning but lost the pre-quarterfinals in the evening, while Rehana Parvin’s defeat in the pre-quarterfinal ended Bangladesh’s only hope in the women’s singles.
Salman and Mohammad Anamul Haque reached the quarter-final in the men’s doubles after beating compatriots Tushar Krishna Roy and Tuhin 18-21, 21-14, 21-19, while Tanbir Ahmed and Ebadul Haque beat Abdul Khalek and Chand Lal.
Bristy Khatun and Rehana Parvin reached the women’s doubles quarter-final after beating Mauritius pair Jemimah Leung and Ganesha Mungrah 21-17, 21-14.

Only Ebadul and Afrina Islam Mouly from Bangladesh made it to the last-eight in the mixed doubles as the duo beat Melvin Appiah and Ganesha 21-14, 21-17.
Earlier, Gourab defeated Maldives shuttler Shaheed Hussein 21-17, 21-13, Salman beat Nibal Ahmed of Maldives 21-10, 21-10 while Chand defeated compatriot Ariful Islam Tuhin 21-14, 21-15 in the second round.
Gourab lost to Malaysian Muhammad Naim Ahmad Fairuzly in the last-16 while Salman and Chand lost against Cheerandeev Arutchelvan of Malaysia and Kevin Walter of India.
Rehana lost to Letsshana Karupathevan.
The 17-year old Gourab, who made his senior international debut during the Nepal International Challenge last week, said, “I learned a lot from playing such big tournaments, got tips from the other players and at the same time also improved my game.”
