Favourites Saif Sporting Club are on course of winning the SA Group Premier Division Chess League 2018 as they remained at the top of table after bagging their fourth consecutive win comfortably by 4-0 against Fire Service and Civil Defence at the NSC Tower Auditorium Lounge Monday.
The star-studded Saif Sporting now have earned eight points from four matches to share the leader-board along with Bangladesh Navy, who played one less game. Sonargaon Chess Club and Golden Sporting Club are tied at second place with seven points.
Saif’s Belarus Grandmaster Kovalev Vladislav, Azerbaijan GM Eltaj Safarli, Bangladesh’s GM Ziaur Rahman and Fide Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman beat Md Hasan Emam, Jewel Khan, WIM Rani Hamid and Mohammed Mainuddin respectively.
Bangladesh Navy beat Access Chess Club by 3-1 game points with International Master Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, FM Sk Nasir Ahmed and IM Abu Sufian Shakil winning their games while only Kh Aminul Islam lost against Sourath Biswas. Sonargaon Chess Club beat Titas Club by 3-1 in the day’s other game.
