Sazzad Hossain wants to score more hat-tricks after netting his first one in the Federation Cup against Wanderers Tuesday.
The versatile forward netted one in the first half and two after the break as Brothers Union won the game in quite dominating passion.
After spending six years at now-defunct Saif Sporting Club, Sazzad had one season each at Mohammedan and Sheikh Jamal in the last two league campaigns.
A treble seemed like a never-ending dream, one that he has now finally achieved.
“Everyone has a dream to score a hat-trick. I’ll try to do more,” Sazzad told Dhaka Tribune in reaction to his first treble in the Fed Cup.
He previously had two hat-tricks in the Chittagong league in 2020-21.
The 29-year old can play on three positions up front but did not get enough opportunities as striker due to dominance of overseas players.
His three goals against Wanderers also came from the wing.
“It’s difficult to get goals due to dominance of foreign forwards. I’m delighted to get a hat-trick,” said Sazzad.
Sazzad caught the attention after he was teamed in a photograph alongside Lionel Messi, which was shared by FIFA’s facebook page last year.
He had a notable brace in Mohammedan colors, among other goalscoring exploits, but he called the latest hat-trick the best moment of his career.
