Bangladesh girls qualify for Youth Asia Cup for first time, men’s youth team clinch AHF Cup

The men's youth hockey team made it to the Youth Asia Cup as they emerged champions of AHF Cup after beating China 4-2

Bangladesh made history in women's hockey after outplaying Singapore 7-1 Sunday to qualify for the Youth Asia Cup for the first time ever.

The girls in red and green finished runners-up in the Junior AHF Cup Hockey to achieve historic qualification to the prestigious continental meet. 

The men's youth hockey team also made it to the Youth Asia Cup as they emerged champions of AHF Cup after beating China 4-2 on the same day.  

Rakibul Hasan scored two goals while Amirul Islam and Mohammad Joy added one apiece. The first half ended 3-0 in favor of Bangladesh.

China came back stronger after that but it was too little too late. 

In the women's game, it was good team effort that secured a big win. 

Nadira Ema netted twice while Sanjida Moni, Kona Akter, Airin Riya, Sonia Khatun and Arpita Pal were also on the scoresheet. 

Bangladesh girls scored four goals in the first half before extending their lead after the break. 

The men's team earlier beat Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia in the group stage to ensure a 100% winning record in the competition. 

They thrashed Chinese Taipei 7-1 in the semi-finals. 

Bangladesh Hockey Federation congratulated both the men's and women's team.

The top officials including the Bangladesh Navy chief are expected to welcome the heroes and heroines at the airport Monday morning.
